Fall Recruiting, the Annual Meeting and Elections
Greetings to Beach Crew Alumni and friends of Beach Crew!
Beach crew starts the 2020 season with many positive changes to the program. Last year Beach Crew was granted the right to offer preferred admission to prospective rowers.
This fall our returning oarsmen will be joined by the first class of high school recruits and community college transfers. All are strong athletes who will be coached by an outstanding group of coaches.
Mike Long, the new Men’s Head Coach, had a successful rowing career with Beach Crew and returned to coach some of the fastest crews in LBSU history in the 90’s. He will be assisted by veteran Matt Maliglig who is returning for his second season as novice coach.
Leading the women this year will be veteran coach Victoria Draper. Victoria rowed for UC Davis and coached the LBSU women’s team in the 2000’s. She is an expert in erg and cross fit training, as well as being a successful business woman.
She will be assisted by recent Beach Crew standout, Megan DeVore. Megan’s knowledge and enthusiasm will be a big asset in working with the novice team.
Correction, sent the same day: The Men’s Assistant Coach this year is Dylan Widjaja.
