Volunteer at the Regatta
The Naples Island regatta is at Marine Stadium on Saturday, November 14. A regatta takes a lot of volunteers on race day, and most of the jobs are easy to learn.
If you can help, fill out the volunteer form on the Beach Crew website.
An Olympic Field on Home Water
On October 9 and 10, Marine Stadium hosted the Long Beach Elite and Community Invitational, run by USRowing. Crews came from Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Canada and the United States. The usual racing distance is 2,000 meters. This regatta ran a 1,500 meter sprint. For several of these crews it was a look at the water they will race for Olympic medals in 2028.
Beach Crew trains on this water every morning. Marine Stadium hosted Olympic rowing in 1932, and it is planned to host rowing again at the 2028 Games.
USRowing also offered races for college, youth and masters crews. Beach Crew and the other local colleges stayed out, since the schools felt the entry fee was too high for a single race.
Rowers gather around a racing shell outside the boathouse.
