Newport Regatta 2025
The Men's Beach Crew competed in the 60th Annual Newport Regatta at Newport Beach on Sunday, March 16. Both Novice and Varsity crews each had a 2,000 meter race again five other schools in the North Lido Channel.
The Novices were first up, racing for the Larry M. Moore cup, in lane six. They had a good start in the race, keeping pace with the other crews and able to place third in the race with an official time of 6:38.44. Despite being behind on OCC and UCLA, the Novices were able to gain their advantage on UCSB.
The Varsity finished off the regatta with their race, challenging for the James C. Jorgensen Cup. The varsity crew overall gave it their all, keeping their catches consistent in the race, but was unable to catch up to the other schools and placed fifth with an official time of 6:16.04.
It was a good race day for both crews as they demonstrated how far they've come as athletes in the sport. Varsity have a long way to go as they prepare for San Diego Crew Classic from March 28 to 30.
