Men's Crew Challenge Cup 2025

The Beach Crew competed in a series of dual races at this year's California Challenge Cup, in Newport Beach on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Both crews, novice and varsity, gave it their all in this regatta.

First up was the varsity's first race against UCSB. The crew was gaining on the other boat, but was only short of one second from a first place win, leaving them with an official time of 4:14.

The novices head out to their first race against SDSU. The SDSU crew was ahead of the novice Beach crew by three strokes a minute. By the time the novices ended the race, they finished in 4:43.

Next, varsity heads into their second race against UCLA. The race was a close one overall, with the varsity Beach Crew getting an official race time of 4:10.

The novices go into their second race of the regatta against CPSLO. Unfortunately, the novices lost to the CPSLO crew by an entire boat length, leaving them with an official time of 4:53.

Both men's crews go into their final race in the regatta, going up against USC. While novices were having a regular dual with the USC novices, the varsity raced for the Bob Newman Challenge Cup in the regatta.

The novices gained a flawless win against USC's novice crew, with an official time of 5:07. The varsity were able to beat USC's other crew as well, and though both crews shared the same time, the Beach Crew were able to gain the win by half a millisecond, giving them their time of 4:27.023.

Though the Men's Crew weren't able to win all their races, it doesn't deny their determination to keep on learning from other schools and will keep on training for future races.
