Women's Crew Gruenberg Cup 2025

Long Beach State’s women’s varsity crew kicked off the season this past Saturday at the Gruenberg cup. Hosted by SDSU, Beach Crew’s varsity squads competed at Crown Point against SDSU in a women’s openweight 4+ (VW4+ A) and lightweight 4+ boat (VW4+ B). LBSU’s varsity A boat finished second place to SDSU with the varsity B trailing close behind to finish third.

In the openweight 4+ boat, stroke Bailey Hartman highly complimented her boat’s focus and composure throughout the race- even despite being hit by a massive wake around the 1000m mark. Senior coxswain Brianna Torres noted that the race did an excellent job setting the tone for the remainder of the season, igniting the flame within for the crew.

Within the lightweight 4+, freshman stroke Ruby Bogonovich highlighted her team’s discipline building up to the race, agreeing with Torres that although the result was not what they had desired, it had only motivated her team to continue their hard work and keep the bigger picture in mind- building a solid foundation for WIRA and ACRA.

Tune in this upcoming Saturday to watch the ladies compete at the California Challenge Cup in Newport Beach. Go Beach!
