| THE ERG-O-THON | |||
| April 18, 2026 · Pete Archer Boathouse | |||
|
Every morning before most of campus is awake, Beach Crew is on the water.
We row out of the Pete Archer Boathouse on Marine Stadium, the same course built for the 1932 Olympics and selected again as the official rowing venue for LA 2028. It's one of the most storied stretches of water in the sport.
But we're not a varsity program. We don't have athletic scholarships or a university equipment budget. Everything we have (every boat, every oar, every erg) exists because the rowers before us fundraised for it, and because people like you believed this program was worth keeping alive.
|
On April 18, more than 70 Beach Crew athletes will row continuously for six hours, pushing toward nearly one million meters on indoor rowing machines. It is one of the hardest physical challenges our team takes on all year, and our single most important fundraiser. |
Why Your Support Matters
Beach Crew is entirely self-funded. Our athletes pay dues, hold fundraisers, and rely on the generosity of their families, friends, alumni, and community to cover the real costs of running a competitive collegiate rowing program.
The university does not fund our travel. It does not buy our boats. It does not pay our race entries. Every dollar we raise goes directly into keeping this team on the water.
Where Your Donation Goes
| → Regatta travel and lodging across California and beyond |
| → Boat, oar, and ergometer maintenance and replacement |
| → Race entry fees for WIRA, ACRA, and invitational regattas |
| → Coxswain electronics and on-water safety equipment |
| → Day-to-day team operations that keep 70+ athletes training |
How to Give
There are two ways to support an athlete on Erg-O-Thon day:
Option 1 · Sponsor Per 500 Meters
Pledge $3 to $5 per 500 meters your athlete rows. The harder they pull, the more your pledge adds up:

Option 2 · Donate Any Amount
Not sure about per-meter math? No problem. A flat donation of any size makes a real difference:

Sponsor an Athlete
Every rower participating in the Erg-O-Thon has their own fundraising page. You can sponsor a specific athlete (your friend, your kid, your former teammate) or make a general donation to support the entire team.
When you give through an athlete's page, your donation appears on the team leaderboard and helps them reach their personal fundraising goal. It's the best way to show a rower you're behind them.

"Rowing demands everything: early mornings, discipline, teamwork, and sacrifice. Our athletes give all of that willingly. Your support gives them the resources to match their commitment."
