Women’s Crew Leadership

The Women’s Crew has changed a lot in the last year with only about two returning rowers and a handful of new novice rowers starting this fall season. Two novice rowers, Sarah Verryp and Megan Arendt, have stepped up to become the Women’s Crew team officers. Verryp is a junior transfer student who is majoring in Community Health Education. Arendt is a sophomore math major. So far they have shown great leadership skills both on and off the water.

When asked about the progress of the women’s team Arendt stated, “The most progress that I’ve seen so far with our team is with the set in our boat. Just a few weeks ago we were only rowing by sixes and now we’re rowing by eights!” Arendt shows great spirit and enthusiasm for her team and their potential.

As for the future goals for the women’s team Verryp stated, “My goals for the Women’s Crew this season is to strengthen our teamwork and our abilities to be the best we can, while still having fun!” Verryp’s focus on teamwork and motivation is a sign of a capable leader. With these two talented rowers and officers the Women’s Crew has a greater possibility of a winning spring season.
