Islands in a Four
By Marissa Long
The Men’s Crew has been continuing their practice in small boats and recently took out a four and went around Naples Island.
Novice coxswain, Emaela has greatly improved on her calls and is able to run a practice on her own. They started with a pick drill and then went into other drills like wide grip, by having their hands on their inside hand close to the oarlock. After drills, they did steady-state rowing around the island. Coach Scott gave the rowers pointers throughout the piece. They had to finish the piece on the water early, but they finished it in the gym on stationary bikes.
The Men’s Crew has been focused on small boats because most of the upcoming races will be small boat races. They have been slowly improving after each practice.

The four goes under the bridge.
