Naples Island Collegiate Rowing Challenge: The Pancake Regatta

Known to the locals as the “Pancake Regatta”,  the fourth annual Naples Island Collegiate Rowing Challenge took place on 11/04/17  on home turf (Pete Archer Boat House). The Naples Island College Rowing Challenge, or NICRC for short, is an annual regatta hosted by the Beach Crew Alumni Association, with this year being the fourth year that this tradition has been upheld; however, the regatta itself is a collaborative community effort, which would not be possible without the help of the many involved. The NICRC’s main race is the 4400m head race around Naples Island, which is then followed by the 850m Novice Sprints. The prize for winning the regatta is the perpetual Queen Mary Trophy and is awarded to the team with the most cumulative points. This year’s Trophy went to UC Santa Barbara’s Crew, who won the total most events at the regatta. Results listed below in the order the events took place:

The alumni, the Queen Mary, the Seal Beach Lion’s Club, the Long Beach Yacht Club, the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, the City of Long Beach, the Long Beach Aquatic Capital of America, the Long Beach Rowing Association, our Southwest Region USRowing referees, and last but not least the many volunteers, were involved in the preparation of this year’s regatta (apologies if you were not listed). Thank you everyone!
