“Dr. Stuart L. Farber” to Join Fleet of Racing Shells

Dr. and Mrs. Stuart L. Farber
Over the summer Beach Crew received a generous donation from Dean of Students Emeritus, Dr. Stuart Farber. As an annual supporter of Beach Crew, Dr. Farber has always shown his commitment to student involvement and success. Well known within the College of Business Administration, he and his wife Trish fund an annual scholarship for exceptional students that express respect, integrity, civility, and valuable leadership on campus.
Dr. Farber’s efforts together with a grant from the Sempra Energy Foundation, the funds are being used to restore a Vespoli 4+ racing shell from 1992 that was never christened with a name. The “Dr. Stuart L. Farber” will join the fleet of racing shells at the Pete Archer Rowing Center, more notably to be placed with the “Robert C. Maxon” Vespoli 4+ and others from our campus supporters. The boat is scheduled to be christened, 19 years overdue, and put into service for the annual Long Beach Fall Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, November 13.

In the shop: Once known as "The NoName", after 19 years the boat will finally get what it deserves. It's bad luck to not name a boat or change its title. Over the years the boat was plagued with very obnoxious unofficial titles.
