Coaching Background

Brandin's role as the General Manager serves a major part in operating the rowing programs at California State University, Long Beach. A primary role of the General Manager is to provide the coaching staff with their resources. He works between the several CSULB campus services and auxiliaries that support the rowing program, including: the Sports, Athletics, and Recreation Department, the Division of Student Services, Associated Students Inc. (ASI), Student Life & Development (SLD), Campus Fleet Services, Facilities Management, the CSULB Foundation, and the Beach Crew Alumni Association. He is the liason with the team's membership in the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Assocaition (WIRA) and the Amerian Collegiate Rowing Assocaition (ACRA). He also represents the program with organizations in the community such as the Long Beach Rowing Association (LBRA).

Brandin's rowing career started in 2006 as a walk-on athlete while he was attending Orange Coast College. While striving to make his way into the second novice boat, under novice coach Pat Gleason, his boat took victory at San Diego Crew Classic, the Newport Regatta, and the WIRA Championships. Brandin transferred to CSU Long Beach in 2007 to continue striving in the Lightweight Varsity 4+ boat. Brandin served as the President of Beach Crew's Men's Team in 2008 and was a key contributor to the formation of the Beach Crew Alumni Association.

Brandin is a graduate of CSULB's College of Business with a degree in Management Information Systems with a minor in Application Development. He currently works at the California State University, Office of Chancellor Charles Reed in Downtown Long Beach.

Brandin has had a strong history in the past working with the Boy Scouts of America. He received several local and national awards for his contribution to the community including being awarded the organization’s highest rank of Eagle Scout. Brandin has also contributed to his community by serving as a Board Member at Large for two years with the City of Costa Mesa's Emergency Communications division.

In his spare time he enjoys cycling, kayaking, running, and hiking to mountaintops.
