April Events

Monday, April 26, 2010 13:05:00 PDT - Portland, OR

Beach Crew has been busy in April traveling up and down the western states.

NCRC - Vancouver, WA

The beginning of the month found the team ending their Spring Break double-day training on campus and at the Pete Archer Rowing Center. April 2 found the team traveling from Long Beach to Vancouver Lake, WA, to compete in the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Invitational (NCRC). Unfortunately, due to wind conditions, the regatta was cancelled. But the team didn't go home without any time on the water. The host, Lewis & Clark College, moved the venue to their waters along the Willamette River in Portland, OR.

The team took several spots taking first in the Men's Varsity 4+, second in the Men's Varsity 8+, second in the Women's Varsity 8+, and third in the Women's Novice 8+. Other universities in attendance this weekend were Humboldt State, California Maritime, Chapman University, Portland State, Puget Sound University, Pacific Lutheran University, Western Washington, and Seattle Pacific.

The Beach Crew Journals

Friday, March 26, 2010 20:07:00 PDT - Pete Archer Rowing Center

With the Spring 2010 season already underway, many of us look back at the first stroke we took on the water and ponder where we stand up to the rest of the crews we face, let alone competing with our own peers to get seated in the boat. It was a time that left us confused, frustrated, and asking the question, "Why am I doing this?" We asked athletes to look back at that. It's all a blur to them now, but there are still some fond memories of the first day on the water...
