Contribute to Beach Crew
Please consider supporting the California State University Long Beach Crew Team, one of
the oldest and most respected collegiate crews on the west coast and the first athletic
program at California State University, Long Beach.
Throughout the years, the program has been very successful. We consistently rank within
the top ten at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Regatta, the
most prestigious race on the west coast with over forty teams competing.
In in recent years we became the first west coast team to ever win an event at the 68th annual
Dad Vail Regatta, the nation's largest competition with over 118 schools participating. The
WIRA Championships of 2008 resulted in 1st place in the pair, 2rd place in the four and
10th in the eight.
Beach Crew is a part of CSULB's Associated Student's Inc. (ASI), a non-profit organization
of the university, who supports all student activities on and off campus. All donations will
go directly into our team's foundation account which is tax deductible. You may designate
your donation to "Beach Crew" in your memo line. ASI currently funds the men's and women's
crew team for general expenses. Their level of support, while generous ($17,500) still does
not meet the financial demands of the sport.
Below you will find operating expenses incurred by the program with an estimated cost
associated with the each expense.
- $8,000 - Repairing existing racing shells that are not currently race ready
- $5,000 - Acquiring oars, riggers and backstays and cox-boxes for these shells
- $2,000 - Race entrance fees
- $50,000 - Transportation expenses
- $30,000 - Hotel and food costs
- $150,000 - Purchasing additional shells
The cost of supporting a prestigious program such as this requires the support of many
individuals, business and alumni rowers. Should you choose to donate
70% of the total cost of the boat, we will invite you to name the boat.
You may visit the following link at CSULB to make a donation online or mail your designation to ASI. Be sure to state
"Beach Crew" in the comments field.
If you should have any questions, please contact us.
Thank you in advance for your support.
